callmetothejedi: Class Query.......

Hi! I am a rising first year graduate student at Simmons College. I am enrolled in their Library and Information Science Master's program. I was wondering if anyone who is on here and a current Library Science student has taken LIS 481: Child Literature & Media (Wednesdays, 9:30am - 12:30pm) with Professor Kimball, and if so, what they thought of the class.

Thanks in advance,

starcrossedlove: Move in dates?

I have a couple questions about move in dates/when school starts.

I know that most leases start on September 1 and I was planning on moving in on that date. At first I though that'd be fine because I assumed school wouldn't start until after labor day, but as I've been registering for classes I realized that that is not the case. One class that I'm signing up for starts on September 2nd. Is this correct? I was hoping that I would at least have a couple days to unpack and get situated...

For those of you who are living off campus...when are you moving?

I'm from Colorado and I guess things are done differently here. A lot of apartment complexes are more flexible and they'll let you move in in the middle of the month if you need to and they'll just prorate the rent. So far every place I've asked about in Boston will not allow this. Is that just standard?

starcrossedlove: Newbie post!

Hi everyone!

I was just accepted into the Children's Literature/Library Services for Children dual degree program at Simmons!

I have a question about housing and I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction...

My boyfriend was just accepted to the Creative Writing MFA program at Emerson. We were hoping to try to find an apartment together, and we are unsure about what neighborhoods we should be looking into. Can anyone offer some advice, or point me to any posts in the memories that might be helpful. Thank you!

callmetothejedi: First Post!

My name is Mary, and I was accepted into Simmons College's Library Science program. I was wondering if anyone could tell me a bit more about the program, what they like about it, that sort of thing.

Thank you in advance!

meepalicious: ENGL313

I'm not sure if I ever introduced myself, I probably did. Either way; I'm Leslie Ann, an East Asian Studies sophomore. That out of the way, the real reason for this post: I'm currently registered for ENGL313 and I was wondering if any of you had taken it and how you felt about it?

iloveny14: books

hey all, selling some books.

steven johnson - everything bad for you is good

ann charters - the story and its writers

punto y aparte - for spanish 201, you'd still have to buy the workbook, but my book is in pretty good condition, has some very small rips and writing but answers aren't filled in, there are just some words i translated in some of the stories

I also have an AP stylebook and some graphic design books, if you're interested in any of these let me know, i'm not looking to make a lot of money I just want to get rid of 'em so i'll sell em for whatever you want to pay.

feel free to comment here or email me @ hardiman@simmons.edu

have a good one!

roomtobreathe: (no subject)

Hey everyone... I'm a prospective student at Simmons GSLIS. I'm a senior at Pace University in NYC, graduating in a couple weeks. Anyway, I'm applying for this coming fall and I was wondering if anyone could give me a heads up on when to expect any word from Simmons. I put my application in the mail right before Thanksgiving and I'm just wondering if they will send me anything letting me know they got my app or if I'll just be getting a yes or no in a bit (and exactly how long that'll take...)

Also, if anyone has any thoughts on the library science program in general, I'd love to hear them.

Thanks for your time and good luck on finals :)

evilnicola: Have work-study? Need a job?

If you are good at English or Math, and would like to make 12 dollars an hour to start tutoring high school students in Dorchester, please contact me at toscano at simmons dot edu.

The school is a short bus ride from Ruggles, and the hours are either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday, 2:45-5.

This is a really fun program, and one of the best paid work study programs you can do.

If you have any questions, feel free to comment or email me.
